Dear Friends, The happy recipients of our monthly food aid -- most of whom are terminally ill cancer patients -- send a heartfelt THANK YOU! With your support you are easing pain, feeding impoverished families and reminding those who often fall through the cracks of society that they are seen, valued and not forgotten. God bless you for helping us to keeping reaching out.

In addition to our regular Family Care Package Program, our recent focus has been on Sustainable Income Generating Projects for widows, unemployed youth and single mothers who reside in various poor settlements around Nairobi.

Mary Awino, who is HIV-positive and also battling tuberculosis, was left on crutches after developing meningitis. Despite her condition, she cares for her aging, ailing mother and two small children. Recognizing her passion and determination, we supported her in setting up a small roadside stand selling chapati and chai breakfasts to passersby near her modest dwelling in the slums. She proudly shared that her chapatis sell so well, they’re all gone by noon.
Phoebe, a single mother & recipient of our food aid support. Living with HIV, she faces ongoing opportunistic illnesses like tuberculosis, which has affected her legs and made it difficult for her to walk. Despite these hardships, she remains determined to provide for her family. She expressed a desire to start a small business selling vegetables and dried fish. FCM was able to sponsor this venture, which not only gives her a source of income but also restores a sense of dignity. and hope. for the future.
Family Care initially sponsored two push carts, a food cart, a fridge and other essential equipment to support a youth-led waste collection and clean-up initiative in the Kibera slum. Their efforts to improve sanitation has grown into a community transformation. The team of five young changemakers has since built a public shower facility, installed a water filtering system for safe drinking water and launched an urban farming project in one of Nairobi’s most under-served areas. Baraka, one of the team members, shared: “Your support has had a direct impact on our lives by providing tools for economic empowerment.“

Otieno is a single father of four, having lost his wife to cancer. He works as a water vendor in Kibera, where many residents struggle with chronic water shortages and dry taps. Until recently, Maurice had to rent a water cart daily, leaving him with very little profit. Maurice shared, “Thanks to your support, I now have my own water cart, which helps my family greatly. Even on the days I rest, I can rent it out to others. Your help is really improving our lives.”
Maurice’s new cart not only increases his daily income but gives him the opportunity to build a more stable future for his children.
