Our work takes us into many marginalized communities, where we regularly witness suffering because of ignorance and a lack of hygiene supplies and basic training. In an effort to educate and empower mothers from these poor neighborhoods -- many of whom suffer from HIV/AIDS-related sicknesses -- we have been organizing Health Awareness Programs with groups of mothers. Personal counseling and prayer provide much needed encouragement, and each attendee receives a health kit, which consists of hygiene supplies, water purification tabs and simple First Aid items, plus information material on the topic.
